Jonny Evans has been impressed with Manchester United's summer transfer business and believes teammate Luke Shaw will mature into the world's best left-back.
Having finished seventh under David Moyes last season, missing out on Champions League football for the first time in 19 years in the process, United spent over 150 million pounds on six new faces with new manager Louis van Gaal intent on turning the club's fortunes around.
Angel Di Maria arrived from Real Madrid for a British record transfer fee of 59.7 million pounds while the club also loaned Radamel Falcao on deadline day.
However, Evans has been equally excited by the defensive additions; Marcos Rojo impressed on his debut during United's 4-0 victory against QPR last weekend and Shaw has shown plenty of promise in training, as well as the recent under-21s win against Sunderland.
"Looking at our new defenders, Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw, I've been really impressed," Evans told United Review. "I watched Marcos at the World Cup and thought he was excellent for Argentina whether he played at left-back or left wing-back, and he can play centre-back too.
"I had the chance to work with Luke in pre-season and there is no doubt he is going to be the best left-back in the world."
United's defence had been heavily scrutinised ahead of the victory against QPR at Old Trafford, particularly in the club's heavy 4-0 League Cup defeat away to MK Dons.
That prompted Van Gaal to strengthen and bring in Daley Blind for added protection in front of his backline.
Blind, who played under Van Gaal for the Netherlands at this summer's World Cup, enjoyed a solid debut on Sunday and Evans believes the 24-year-old will only get better.
"I watched Daley in the World Cup," Evans said. "He was very impressive. The manager knows him well and he's come through the Ajax youth system, which is something the manager had a lot of input into so he'll understand his way of playing really well."
