Alan Pardew 'to stay in charge of Newcastle United for now'

Alan Pardew will remain in charge of Newcastle for next weekend's game against Hull City, sources have told ESPN FC.

- No assurances over Pardew future

The pressure on Pardew increased following his side's 4-0 hammering at his former club Southampton on Saturday, with Newcastle supporters calling for the manager to leave before, during and after the game.

The latest setback means Newcastle have taken just five points from their last 11 Premier League matches -- but Pardew still has the backing of club owner Mike Ashley and will remain in charge for now.

He has appealed for time and patience from supporters following a summer of recruitment that saw the likes of Remy Cabella, Jack Colback and Daryl Janmaat arrive.

Steve Bruce -- the manager whose side Newcastle face next week -- is the bookmakers' favourite to take over from Pardew if he loses his job, but has said that speculation is "disrespectful."

However, unless there is a change of heart from the St James' Park hierarchy Pardew will remain in his post to face what will be billed as another must-win game.
