Neil Warnock named Palace boss

Neil Warnock: Back at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace have confirmed that Neil Warnock has returned to Selhurst Park for a second spell as manager after penning a two-year contract.

- Daly: Palace turn clock back with Warnock

Warnock, 65, sat in the Palace hotseat between 2007 and 2010, while his last job in football was as Leeds United boss -- a post he left in April 2013.

The news was announced in unconventional style, with Palace's shirt sponsor Neteller revealing Warnock's appointment on Twitter before the club confirmed the news via their own account.

The Englishman has only twice previously managed a club in the Premier League; he suffered relegation with Sheffield United in 2007 and was axed by QPR in January 2012 having helped them to promotion to the top flight.

Palace had been searching for a new manager since Tony Pulis' shock resignation on the eve of the current Premier League campaign.

They were set to hire Malky Mackay but reversed that decision when revelations about inappropriate texts sent by the ex-Cardiff City boss surfaced last week.

Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood was also in the frame but withdrew his interest after it became clear Palace had favoured Mackay over him, paving the way for Warnock to return to Palace.
