Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele apologised to team after being late to training - Carles Alena

Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele apologised to his teammates for showing up late to training on Sunday, said teammate Carles Alena.

Dembele scored the lone Barcelona goal in a 1-1 Champions League draw against Tottenham on Tuesday with a sensational solo effort in which he beat a number of Spurs defenders before curling past goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

That brilliant strike came a day after sources told ESPN FC that Barcelona security was sent to track down the 21-year-old after he was two hours late to a Sunday training session -- the latest incident of indiscipline from the France international.

However, Alena confirmed on Wednesday that the former Borussia Dortmund man immediately made amends with his Blaugrana teammates after the episode.

"We have to look after Dembele," Alena told reporters. "He apologised in front of the whole team and he knows he made a mistake.

"He won't arrive late anymore. He's committed some errors but he knows that and he's going to correct them. We can't kill him for it.

"The important thing is how much he's giving us on the pitch. And when he improves those small things [off the pitch], he'll give us more.

"It was nice to see the reception he got from the fans when he went off [vs. Spurs]. We appreciate that he got the support he needed from the supporters and we are with him until the end."
