Barcelona announce club-record €914m revenue but net profit decreases

Barcelona on Monday announced a club-record revenue in financial results for the 2017-18 season, though they came up short on net profit estimates.

The Blaugrana had predicted to make €897 million last season but came away with €914m, with €882m in expenditures for an operating profit of €32m.

However, they failed to reach their estimated net profit of €21 million, banking only €13m after taxes -- a mark €5m less that the profit of the 2016-17 season.

"The Board has valued the final balance of the year positively, and it's in line with the Strategic Plan of the Club to reach one billion euros of income in 2021," the club said in a statement.

Barcelona won a La Liga and Copa de Rey double last season after selling Neymar to Barcelona for €222m, but spent €225m to sign Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund last summer and Philippe Coutinho in January.
