WHIPPANY, New Jersey -- Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen says he will stay at the club despite reports claiming Crystal Palace are interested in signing the Dutch goalkeeper.
Cillessen joined Barca from Ajax last summer but was restricted to just 10 appearances in his first year at the club, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen preferred ahead of him.
That's led to speculation over his future, despite the Catalan club's reluctance to sell, which has intensified since the appointment of his former Ajax coach Frank de Boer at Palace.
"I have not spoken with Frank, I know him well but I've not talked to him," Cillessen told reporters, including ESPN FC, at the Red Bull Training Facility on Thursday.
Asked if he would think about leaving if De Boer did call, he responded: "No, I'm not going. I am very happy here."
Players are often tempted by the promise of regular football with a World Cup on the horizon, but Cillessen says he doesn't fear losing his place in the Netherlands national team following talks with Dick Advocaat.
"I spoke a lot with the new Dutch manager and he said the quality has to show every day and that's what I did," he added.
"I think I did, anyway. I played the two [Netherlands] games [this summer] and that's what I do [show my quality] on the training ground and in the cup games here [with Barcelona]."
Having joined towards the end of the transfer window last August, Cillessen had little time to adapt to his new surroundings.
However, a year on, he is now much more comfortable and has the added benefit of being the No.1 on the club's tour of the United States, with Ter Stegen still on holiday following his participation in the Confederations Cup.
"No, I don't think so," he said when asked if Ter Stegen's absence handed him the chance to make a head start with new coach Ernesto Valverde.
"It won't give me an advantage, but I am happy to be here. I know what my situation's been but I hope it changes. Every player wants to play every game and I will give everything for that to happen.
"I'm used to the training, the intensity and the weather now. I've just done my first press conference in Spanish, so things are good."
