Josep Maria Bartomeu criticised by Joan Laporta after Barcelona thrashing

Joan Laporta has questioned Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu for going to ground in the wake of the club's heavy defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Former Barca president Laporta says it's further evidence that Bartomeu and the current board think solely of themselves and continue to steer the Blaugrana in the wrong direction.

Bartomeu has not spoken to any media since the 4-0 thrashing in Paris, nor has he posted anything on social media.

"You feel messed up [as president]," Laporta told RAC1 when asked how he used to feel after the biggest defeats during his presidency at the Camp Nou. "The first reaction that comes into your head is to go out, send a message of recognition [for what happened], look forward and live from repentance.

"It surprised me that Bartomeu didn't come out, the president of Barcelona. I haven't seen him anywhere. It's further evidence of what I think of him."

Laporta, who lost out to Bartomeu in the presidential election in 2015, has never sought to hide his disdain for the current board and added that he believes it's "dangerous" to leave things hierarchy as it is.

"It's been a while since this board started destroying Barcelona," he continued.

"The only thing they are doing is taking advantage of what we left and dedicating themselves to their own business, doing their own thing. It's dangerous to leave Barcelona in the hands of this board."

Former Barca midfielder Bernd Schuster, meanwhile, says the 4-0 humiliation is a sign that the Catalan club's cycle of success on the pitch is beginning to expire.

"Barca are a team that are slowly coming to an end," the German told Onda Cero. "This Barca team has been gradually getting worse this season and [Tuesday in Paris] was a key moment."
