Barcelona's Luis Enrique: Draw with Real Betis is a 'positive result'

Luis Enrique said it was a point gained rather than two dropped after Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Betis on Sunday.

Alex Algeria gave Betis a second-half lead at the Benito Villamarin, only for Luis Suarez to secure a draw for Barca with a 90th-minute equaliser.

Prior to Suarez's late leveller, Barca had been denied a legitimate goal when the ball had crossed the line, but Luis Enrique did not want to use that sense of injustice to cover up a poor performance.

"I leave with the feeling that we've gained a point," the Barca coach said after his side missed the chance to temporarily move top of La Liga.

"Betis had a very good 30 minutes [in the second half] when they were superior to us. There was a general lack of efficiency on our part.

"All the conditions were right to play football; they combined well and we didn't. But we've managed to pick up a positive result despite being inferior to them until their goal."

Pressed on why his team, who came into the match on a five-game winning running, were unable to get going, Luis Enrique added: "There are a thousand things that can cause a team to play better or worse, whether it's the players' positioning or the fixture list.

"We just didn't play well today, there were too many mistakes, especially in the first half."

The draw leaves Barcelona one point behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid -- who host Real Sociedad later on Sunday -- having played two games more than their title rivals.

However, Luis Enrique does not think Barca's hopes of winning the league for a third consecutive season are over yet.

"I don't think so," he said. "The league will be won by the most consistent team of them all -- and after 38 games."

Suarez also admitted that Barcelona were a long way from their best against Betis.

"Obviously it hurts us because we go out to win every game," he said in a postmatch interview with Movistar. "Real Betis played well, but we should have woken up earlier than we did. We are all aware we have not produced a good performance."
