Champions League win would solve Barcelona problems - Luis Enrique

Luis Enrique defended the attitude of his players after Saturday's Clasico draw against Real Madrid, but admitted a win against Borussia Monchengladbach could help solve Barcelona's recent problems.

Sergio Ramos' 90th minute equaliser denied Barca three points and extended their run of draws to three games -- and four in their last five -- leading to further criticism of Luis Enriques's side as they remained six points off the pace in La Liga.

However, the Blaugrana coach refused to call his players' character into question.

"It's a mistake to talk about attitude," he said in a news conference ahead of Tuesday's Champions League game with Gladbach.

"The team are ready to go in every game. Maybe sometimes results are better or worse, but it's dangerous to look at things that way.

"I don't think the players [have been] lacking a winning attitude. Even with good results there's criticism and as a club we're used to this and don't worry about these things."

Things have gone smoother in Europe than domestically for Barca, with top spot already wrapped up in Group C.

Given recent results, though, Luis Enrique acknowledged that a win against Gladbach at Camp Nou this week could provide a much needed morale boost, although it's not something he's desperate to achieve.

"Winning always solves problems, everyone knows that," he added. "It's important to win for the players' morale, but for me winning [on Tuesday] is not so important.

"The game is not important in terms of the competition, but it's a home Champions League game and we will try to win, which is why we have to play well."

Sergi Roberto also reflected on the dropped points against Madrid at the weekend and played up Barca's chances of hauling in Zinedine Zidane's side at the top of the table.

"It was difficult [to take] because they scored in the last minute," the right-back said. "We think we deserved three points but it wasn't to be.

"We were good in the second half, but the team is still in good spirits, and looking forward to the [Gladbach] game and winning again.

"We could have cut the gap on Madrid, but I don't think that the points difference is that big and if we give 100 percent, we will cut the gap."
