Barcelona defenders Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique to have tests on Thursday

Barcelona will find out on Thursday the severity of the injuries picked up by defenders Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique in Wednesday's 4-0 Champions League win over Manchester City.

Alba returned to training earlier this week after suffering a hamstring injury while with Spain at the beginning of the month, and was named in Luis Enrique's starting lineup for Pep Guardiola's Camp Nou return.

However within 10 minutes, he signalled to the bench that he was unable to continue and was replaced by Lucas Digne.

Pique was then injured later in the first half after a loose challenge from his international teammate David Silva.

At first he got up and tried to play on, but it quickly became apparent that his night was over as Jeremy Mathieu began to warm up on the touchline.

The Frenchman -- who was later sent off in the win -- was brought on in Pique's place and Barca have since confirmed the centre-back has an ankle strain.

A statement released by the Catalan club late on Wednesday didn't reveal how long either player would be out, merely stating that more news can be expected after tests at the training ground on Thursday.

Right-back Sergi Roberto was also a doubt heading into the game after he returned from the international break with an abductor problem.

However, despite being named in the initial squad, Luis Enrique made a last-minute decision to leave him out, with Javier Mascherano starting at right-back instead.
