Barcelona's Jordi Alba could miss Champions League clash vs. Man City

Barcelona defender Jordi Alba could miss his side's Champions League clash with Manchester City after it was confirmed that he would sit out the Liga game against Deportivo La Coruna four days earlier.

On Friday, Spain called up Arsenal's Nacho Monreal to replace the injured Alba, who suffered a muscle strain during the 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw in Italy on Thursday.

Defender Alba will miss Sunday's qualifier in Albania after he was injured in the 22nd minute against Italy.

And a Barcelona statement released on Friday said: "Tests have confirmed that Jordi Alba has a hamstring strain in his left leg. He will be out of action for approximately 10 days."

Former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola brings his City side to the Camp Nou on Oct. 19, in only 12 days.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi and Samuel Umtiti are both expected to recover from injuries in time for Depor's visit.

Messi, who has a groin problem, posted a photograph on Instagram of himself training at the club's Ciutat Esportiva on Friday, while Umtiti has stepped up his recovery throughout this week.
