Barcelona's Neymar expecting to play against Alaves on Saturday

Neymar expects to make his first appearance of the season for Barcelona in Saturday's La Liga match against Alaves after landing back in the Catalan capital on Wednesday following more than 100 days away.

The Brazilian spent time in Ibiza and the United States earlier this summer after helping Barca seal a league and cup double last season before joining up with the Brazil squad for the Olympic Games.

Luis Enrique then permitted him some extra rest days after he'd led his country to a gold medal due to the impending international break.

It meant the 24-year-old missed Barca's win over Athletic Bilbao at the end of August, but he has since played in Brazil's World Cup qualification wins over Ecuador and Colombia, scoring the winning goal against the latter on Tuesday.

He was greeted by journalists upon his arrival at El Prat airport, where he said he is "really happy to be back home" and predicted he'll make his first appearance of the season this weekend.

"I see myself playing against Alaves, but first to go home, rest and then get back into training [on Thursday]," Neymar said.

Luis Enrique will have to decide whether to use Neymar from the start against the Basque side or to reserve him on the bench. The fact he's not yet trained with his teammates could influence the Barca boss' decision.

The other members of Barca's front three also pose questions for Luis Enrique.

Like Neymar, Luis Suarez is returning late from the international break and will only train twice before Saturday's game at Camp Nou, while Lionel Messi is struggling with a persistent groin injury.

Three days after Alaves' visit, Barcelona host Celtic in their first game of this season's Champions League.
