Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Javier Mascherano train with Barcelona

Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Javier Mascherano both trained on Wednesday as Barcelona prepared for this weekend's trip to Athletic Bilbao after two days off.

Ter Stegen has been missing since the middle of August with a knee injury and was absent for the Super Cup games against Sevilla and the La Liga opener against Real Betis.

With Claudio Bravo's transfer to Manchester City imminent and a deal for Ajax's Jasper Cillessen not yet complete, there were fears that Barca would travel to San Mames with Jordi Masip as their only available goalkeeper.

However, Ter Stegen's return to training should quash those concerns, and the German international is expected to make his first appearance of the season on Sunday.

Mascherano could also be back in Luis Enrique's side after recovering from a hamstring problem.

The Argentine picked up the knock in last week's 3-0 win over Sevilla and he missed the Betis game, which saw Samuel Umtiti partner Gerard Pique in the middle of the back four.

Additionally, Rafinha was back at the Ciutat Esportiva after helping Brazil win gold at the Olympics, although he didn't train with his teammates due to a cold.

Fellow gold medal winner Neymar remains in Brazil -- with Luis Enrique's permission -- ahead of next week's international break.

With Andres Iniesta and Jeremy Mathieu still sidelined, Barca B goalkeeper Jose Suarez and midfielder Alex Carbonell made up the numbers in the session.
