New Barcelona signing Andre Gomes has similar qualitys to Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack, according to Gary Neville, his former manager at Valencia. Barcelona agreed a €35 million deal for Portugal international Gomes this week and Neville was impressed by his ability and attitude when he worked alongside the 22-year-old in La Liga. "He strides forward and has a powerful physique, making him a similar player to Frank Lampard or Michael Ballack," Neville told the Sunday Times. "He's professional, he's hungry to improve, an intelligent young man who speaks three languages. The day after the 7-0 loss in Barcelona, he insisted on doing extra training." Gomes will become Barca's fourth signing of the summer when his move is formalised next week, following fellow midfielder Denis Suarez from Villarreal and France defenders Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne from Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
