Barcelona would like to keep hold of goalkeepers Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Claudio Bravo for next season despite reported interest from Manchester City for the German star, sporting director Robert Fernandez said on Thursday.
Ter Stegen has played in cup competitions while Bravo features in league games -- an arrangement neither man is completely satisfied with over the past two years. But Fernandez has vowed to prevent either from exiting the Camp Nou ahead of next season.
Speaking at the presentation of new left-back Lucas Digne, Fernandez said: "I'll do what it takes to prevent either of [Bravo and Ter Stegen] from leaving this summer.
"Our stance has not changed one bit since I last said both would continue. People speculate too much, but the fact is we have two extraordinary goalkeepers under contract."
Digne joins Denis Suarez and fellow Frenchman Samuel Umtiti in Barca's summer transfer haul. Fernandez described the club's transfer policy while hailing the contributions of French players in La Liga.
"We always seek players on the market who can contribute for a long period of time," stated Fernandez.
"We want to provide them with time to fulfil their potential. We are not a selling club.
"There's a lot of talented players in France as I've seen on plenty of occasions live at the stadiums. Frenchmen have a positive track record of performing well in La Liga."
Barcelona have long been in the market for a reserve forward, but Fernandez wouldn't refused to drop any clues on who that player might be.
"We can take the young or the veteran route," he said. "We'll thoroughly analyse our options and decide which one is the most convenient."
As for a potential Lionel Messi exit from the club, Fernandez said he is not concerned.
"All I want is Messi to return to Barcelona as soon as possible," Fernandez concluded. "Football players must enjoy their holidays rather than paying attention to their phone."
