Barcelona to request new court date in Neymar transfer case

The lawyer for Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has asked Spain's national court to change the Feb. 2 court date related to the Neymar transfer case because the lawyer will be in court that day with a different case, according to reports.

Bartomeu's lawyer, José Angel González Franco, is set to appear before the same court that same day in the case of bailed-out Caja Castilla La Mancha (CCM), a small former savings bank whose massive state rescue in 2009 marked the start of Spain's crippling financial crisis.

Spain's national court has ordered Neymar to testify in an investigation into alleged irregularities involving his transfer to Barcelona, with the Brazil captain ordered to appear on Feb. 2.

The court says former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell, Bartomeu and Neymar's parents, also will have to appear before a judge.

The national court last year rejected Neymar's request to throw out a probe into the irregularities.
