Neymar tells Barcelona fans to 'relax' over future contract situation

Neymar has told Barcelona fans they can "relax" about his future with the club following his four-goal performance on Saturday in a 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano.

The Brazilian striker still has three years left on his current contract at the Camp Nou and he has gone on record saying he is happy playing with the Catalan club and wants to stay.

The 23-year-old, who leads the Spanish Primera Division in goals scored this season, has been the subject of transfer rumours surrounding a move away from Barcelona. But Neymar was quick to once again dismiss that possibility.

"The renewal is under way. I still have years left on my contract. I'm going to sign. The fans can relax," Neymar told Sport. "Yes, [the Vallecano match] was an historic night which I am going to savour for all my life. I want to congratulate the team for producing a great performance."

Barcelona continue to play without their leader Lionel Messi, who suffered a knee injury and is expected to remain on the sidelines for at least another four weeks. Neymar spoke about how the team have responded in the absence of their talisman.

"We are all leaders on the pitch," Neymar said. "Each one of us does our work and has our way of playing. We are all very important on the pitch and together we make a strong group."

Barcelona return to Champions League action on Tuesday versus BATE Borisov and face Eibar on Saturday in their next Primera Division match.
