Luis Enrique rues Barcelona finishing after defeat at Sevilla

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique said it was "incredible" that his team had only scored once in their 2-1 defeat to Sevilla on Saturday.

An injury-hit Barca team missing stars including Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta, hit the woodwork three times at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan.

Their only goal came from Neymar's penalty when his side were trailing to goals from Michael Krohn-Dehli and Vicente Iborra.

Luis Enrique told his postmatch news conference he could not explain how his side had only found the net once given that they had created so many chances, while congratulating an also injury-hit Sevilla on their first win over Barca in 13 attempts.

"To give an exact opinion I would have to watch the whole game, but it was a game in which both teams had many chances," he said. "It is incredible that we are leaving here having scored only once, and we had 10 minutes in which we were punished.

"They generated superiority. Sevilla must be congratulated for their effort and for the result."

Neymar, Luis Suarez and substitute Sandro Ramirez were all denied by the woodwork, with Suarez also missing a number of chances with the score still at 0-0 in the first half.

Luis Enrique said he was usually happy if his side made plenty of scoring opportunities, and was confident his team would soon get back to converting their chances.

"Normally, the type of players we have are top level," he said. "Coaches and teams look to have the highest possible number of chances, because great players can take them.

"We are not having our best numbers, but it will change -- I have no doubt about that."

With both teams missing several players, it was an open game with neither midfield able to take control of proceedings.

Luis Enrique said this had not favoured Barca, adding: "In a game of back and forth we are able to damage opponents, but we prefer a game with more control. Our game is about control."

The former Barca player said he could not take any satisfaction from how his team had played given the result.

"There is nobody who could be happy with Barca if you lose," he said. "If the result is not good, we cannot be content."
