Barcelona remove 11 La Masia players to comply with FIFA transfer ban

Barcelona have temporarily removed 11 La Masia players, eight from the Futbol 11 and another three from Futbol 7 from the youth academy in an effort to comply with a new interpretation of the club's transfer ban by football's governing body.

The news comes one day after the club released five youth players in a bid to adhere to the existing transfer ban and to avoid the possibility of receiving additional punishment from FIFA.

Barcelona have announced that the club wish to incur zero risk during the transfer ban and have asked FIFA to notify them of any potential conditions until the ban is lifted on Jan. 4.

The club have presented documentation to clear the 11 youth players in question. The new interpretation was based on communication with FIFA from Aug. 19.

Barcelona were banned from making transfers until January 2016 by FIFA after "seriously" breaching rules regarding the signing of underage players.

The sanction was applied after an investigation and was related to the club's signing of 10 foreign players under the age of 18 between 2009 and 2013.

The investigation also found the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) guilty of improper conduct.

Spanish media have claimed that FIFA was not happy that Barca found a way to make two signings this summer without breaching their ban.

Barca signed Aleix Vidal from Sevilla and Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid after the end of last season.

Neither player will be eligible to play for the Blaugrana until January 2016, when FIFA's ban expires.

The eight Futbol 11 players are: Erick Steven (Ecuador), Labinot Kabashi (Kosovo), Imad El Kabbou (Morocco), Anssumane Fati (Guinea Bissau), Konrad de la Fuente (Miami), Ilaix Moriba (Guinea Bissau), Haitam Abadia (Barcelona), Xavi Simons (Amsterdam).
