Barcelona have appointed former player Robert Fernandez as technical director of the first-team.
Fernandez, 53, arrival is one of the first moves the new board of directors has made following Josep Maria Bartomeu's re-election as club president.
The former Camp Nou player takes over a position that has been vacant since Barca dismissed Andoni Zubizarreta as sporting director in January.
Fernandez played 196 games for Barca and was a member of the first-team from 1986-1990, winning two Copa del Rey titles and a European Cup Winners' Cup.

The club has also made Josep Segura new technical secretary of professional youth football.
The 58-year-old was a member of the Barca's coaching staff between 1997 and 2006, and he served as technical director of the Liverpool Academy from 2009 until 2012.
The new board of directors has also put former AC Milan sporting director Ariedo Braida in charge of the club's international scouting, while ex-Barca coach and player Carles Rexach will be responsible for national scouting.
Each will report to Albert Soler, the director of professional sports at Barcelona.
The board is taking over from a management committee that took temporary charge of club decisions after Bartomeu stepped down last month to allow for the presidential election process to begin.
The management committee's biggest action was to complete the signing of Turkey international Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid for an initial transfer fee of €34 million.
The committee completed the transfer before the election process was over amid fears that delaying the deal would jeopardise Turan's arrival as several other clubs in Europe were interested in acquiring the midfielder.
The work of the interim management was recognised by the new board of directors.
A statement from the club read: "The board of directors, in an ordinary meetings, wish to express their gratitude to the management committee for their hard work over recent weeks."
Bartomeu beat three candidates, including former president Joan Laporta, to remain at the helm of the club.
The 52-year-old, who took over the presidency in January 2014 after the resignation of Sandro Rosell, won Saturday's election by a comfortable advantage.
Under Bartomeu's watch, Barca won the Primera Division, Copa del Rey and Champions League treble in the 2014-15 -- Luis Enrique's first year in charge of the Blaugrana.
Barca are touring the United States and will compete in the International Champions Cup against LA Galaxy, Fiorentina, Chelsea and Manchester United before returning to Spain on July 29.
Barca will then take on Europa League winners Sevilla in Tbilisi, Georgia, on Aug. 11 in the UEFA Super Cup before beginning their La Liga title defence at Athletic Bilbao on Aug. 22.
Before then, Barca and Athletic face each other in the two-legged final of the Spanish Super Cup.
The opening leg will be played on Aug. 14 while the return match will take place three days later.
The Catalan giants will have the opportunity to earn their sixth title of 2015 when they compete at the Club World Cup in December.
