Barcelona won't open youth academy in Denmark, Danish FA says

Denmark's football association says Barcelona won't start a permanent youth academy in Denmark as initially planned.

Federation spokesman Steen Jorgensen says on Thursday that they are satisfied and that both the governing body and the Spanish club would look into the possibilities to organise "common football activities in the near future."

Jorgensen adds the Danes must approve "any kind of permanent football establishment."

In March, the Danish federation DBU rejected a request from Barcelona to select players from the age of six, citing concerns over intensively training young children and taking talent from local clubs. That prompted UEFA to remind clubs and football associations of rules controlling overseas youth academies.

Barcelona are currently serving a one-year transfer ban imposed by FIFA for breaking youth recruitment rules.
