Luis Suarez back in Barcelona training, but not yet fully fit for Copa final

Barcelona forward Luis Suarez looks set to return to action in Saturday's Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao, although the Uruguay international has yet to be declared fully fit by the Catalan club.

Suarez, 28, has become a key player for Barca since last summer's €80 million arrival from Liverpool, forming an all-South American attacking "trident" alongside Argentine Lionel Messi and Brazil's Neymar which has contributed a total of 117 goals already this season.

The Uruguayan has not played since being substituted at half-time during the Champions League semifinal second leg at Bayern Munich on May 12 with an apparent hamstring problem.

The issue did not seem too serious at the time, however Suarez has subsequently missed both of Barca's two subsequent La Liga games, with Pedro Rodriguez filling in up front both times.

A club statement released after training on Wednesday suggested that, although not been given the all clear to play yet by Barca's medical staff, Suarez was progressing well ahead of the weekend's final at the Camp Nou.

"After having a day off on Tuesday, Barça trained on Wednesday morning at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on the Tito Vilanova field," the statement said. "With the cup final against Athletic Bilbao the main priority, the full team was present, including Luis Suarez, who has yet to be given full medical clearance. They were joined this morning by Munir, Sandro, Gumbau, Cámara and Adama of the B team."

Besides Saturday's Copa decider against Athletic in their own stadium, the club also have the Champions League final against Juventus in Berlin on June 6 to keep in mind.
