Neymar scores 50th Barcelona goal in Camp Nou victory over Real Sociedad

Neymar scored his 50th goal in just 87 games for Barcelona as they beat Real Sociedad 2-0 at the Camp Nou on Saturday.

The Brazil international, 23, notched up the milestone when he headed home after defender Mikel Gonzalez had inadvertently flicked on a Messi free-kick in the 51st minute.

Neymar moved to Barca from Brazilian club FC Santos, where he began his career, in June 2013.

After making his debut for the Santos first team in 2009, he quickly became a regular and attracted attention from some of Europe's biggest clubs.

The amount paid for his move to Barcelona was quoted by the Catalan club as €57 million, but the deal is currently under investigation.

Neymar made his official Barcelona debut against Levante in a 7-0 La Liga victory.

The No.11 scored 15 times in his first season at the Camp Nou, and has sparkled alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in attack as he has struck 35 goals this time around.

He has scored 31 of his total goals in La Liga and has also netted 11 times in the Champions League -- including one in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Bayern Munich -- seven times in the Copa del Rey and once in the Spanish Super Cup.

On Friday, he praised the generosity shown to him by Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi as he notched his 48th goal for the club at Cordoba last weekend.

With Barca 7-0 up, Neymar won a late penalty which designated taker Messi offered to him despite being on a hat trick.

That came after the Brazilian had missed a number of chances, and he told a news conference: "That gesture from Messi, the penalty, I will never forget.

"He could have scored a hat trick -- but he let me score."
