Barcelona's Lionel Messi treated for vomiting problem - report

A doctor from the Italian town of Sacile is reported to have helped Barcelona star Lionel Messi to cure his vomiting problem.

Messi, 27, was in the north-eastern town on Thursday -- reported to be his third visit -- to seek help from Giuliano Poser to resolve an issue that has been present throughout his career.

He was there on the advice of Argentina teammate Martin Demichelis, who used to be helped by the sports physician.

"Lionel came here for other treatment too, but for professional reasons I cannot say what they were," Dr Poser, who also had Villarreal forward Luciano Vietto in his waiting room on Thursday, told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I've been working with sportsmen for 20 years, even from other sports such as cycling and downhill skiing. Messi came here thanks to word of mouth among footballers and agents."

Poser is sought out by many footballers and has also been invited to Barcelona -- where he has not yet had time to go -- and Argentina.

"I've been to Buenos Aires," added the doctor, who also recalled treating Oliver Bierhoff during his Udinese days, as well as several other Serie A stars past and present.

"I was invited there by friends, of which many are footballers. I've got a great relationship with the national team coach [Gerardo] Martino. That shows that the fact Messi is here is to do with my links with Argentinean football."
