Dani Alves 'sad' over lack of Barcelona talks, listening to offers - agent

Dani Alves' agent says she and her client are "more sad than disappointed" that Barcelona have not yet offered to extend his contract past the end of the current campaign.

Alves' current deal ends next June, meaning the 31-year-old is already free to discuss joining another club for next season.

Despite a current transfer ban until January 2016 which means Barca are unable to sign a replacement next summer, and a lack of other proven options at right-back, Blaugrana president Josep Maria Bartomeu and coach Luis Enrique have both said there is no rush on entering into negotiations over a new deal.

Asked on radio programme El Partido de las 12 if her client was disappointed that no contract extension had yet been offered, the Brazil international's agent (and ex-wife) Deborah Santana said the feeling was more one of sadness.

"Disappointed is not the word," Santana said. "Yes, we did expect there would be some contact, but this is not a disappointment. We are more sad than disappointed. There has not even been any move made."

Santana said that, after Alves had given seven good years of service to the club, the usual thing would be for Barca to make the first move in these situations.

"Dani is there at Barca, the normal thing would be for them to say if they want to renew or not," she said. "We are not going to put pressure on for them to offer a new contract. He has been there for seven years, it is not up to us to pressure anyone."

Santana added that she had received offers from other clubs for the Brazil international, who has been linked previously with Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool among other top clubs, but no detailed negotiations had taken place.

"Negotiating is not the word," she said. "We are listening to offers."
