Wanderers boss Markus Babbel admits Sydney FC 'one of the favourites for the title'

Western Sydney coach Markus Babbel has described the attacking potency of fierce A-League rivals Sydney FC as "unbelievable" ahead of Saturday's derby.

Both teams will be looking to claim their first win of the season after scratching out draws in their round-one encounters last week.

And while the heated rivalry has long been a hallmark of the Sydney match-up, Babbel was full of praise for their cross-town adversaries.

"We know this is a difficult game because this is a good side, one of the favourites for the title," Babbel told reporters on Thursday.

"We are the worst team in the league, so we try to get a result again.

"We know it's not easy, but if we can bring our performance on the pitch, I think we have a good chance to get a result."

Babbel's comments come almost three weeks after the Wanderers were comprehensively beaten 3-0 in their FFA Cup semifinal encounter with Sydney FC.

And the former German international defender expects another difficult clash at the SCG.

"They know what they want to do," he said. "I watched against us, I saw them against Adelaide. It's fantastic what they do in front of the goal. We have to know if we do easy mistakes, they will hurt us.

"We have to concentrate over 90 minutes because they're waiting for the moment, then they are there. We can't give them many moments."

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic revealed he still needs to manage a pelvic injury that hampered most of his preseason.

The former Sky Blues gloveman, who was in goal for last week's draw against Perth, admitted the issue has forced him to alter his training program.

"I've modified it a little bit here and there. I just play with it, see how it reacts week to week and have a couple of injections," Janjetovic said.

"Eventually it will go away. Right now, it just needs to stay managed."
