Departing Brisbane Roar great Thomas Broich admits he was "nervous like a little schoolboy" leading into what was almost certainly his last A-League match at Suncorp Stadium.
Broich played every minute on Friday night as the Roar drew 1-1 with Western Sydney after extra time, then won their penalty shootout to advance to the second week of the finals.
It means they will take on Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park next Sunday for a spot in the A-League Grand Final and a shot at a fourth title.
They remain an outside chance of hosting the decider if they win, but would need Sydney FC to lose their home semifinal next weekend -- and Broich admits that is not likely to happen.
Although he has one more AFC Champions League match left at Suncorp Stadium, the 36-year-old German said his goodbyes to the Roar faithful after beating the Wanderers.
"It was a pretty special game, I'm not going to lie," said Broich.
"I was nervous like a little schoolboy leading into this, I wanted to finish this off with a good performance and a good result.
"I'm really, really happy and relieved it actually went down the way it did."
The emotion of the week, however, had a different effect on his teammates.
"It lifted us," winger Brandon Borrello said. "We want to send Thomas Broich out as a winner.
"He's done so much for this club and wherever he ends up, if it's back at this club coaching, we just want to make him proud."
The win keeps Brisbane's undefeated finals record at home in tact after 10 matches -- many of them filled with the sort of late drama that Broich said had made his time with the three-time A-League champions so special.

"By now we would have a world record in comeback wins, these last seven years," he said. "We've got this never-say-die attitude and it's been amazing.
"Sometimes I find it hard to believe we can pull it off every single time.
"Playing at Suncorp ... we sort of feel invincible. We did lose games, but when it really mattered, we hardly ever lost any."
Before turning their focus to Melbourne Victory, the Roar have an AFC Champions League trip to Thailand's Muangthong United on Wednesday night to contend with first.
It's unlikely coach John Aloisi will field a full-strength line-up after admitting he would prioritise A-League success, with Broich looming as one of the first candidates to be left at home to rest.
