Kenny Lowe dubs Perth Glory goalkeeper Liam Reddy as 'Peter Pan'

He's been dubbed Peter Pan by his coach, but Perth Glory goalkeeper Liam Reddy insists his nickname is still "Rocket" despite his latest heroics in goal.

Reddy has been in the form of his life this season, pulling off a series of stunning saves to keep Glory in the hunt for a top-four berth.

The 35-year-old has saved three penalties this A-League campaign -- including a full-length dive to keep out Besart Berisha's spot kick in last week's 2-1 win over the Melbourne Victory.

His finest performance came in a 3-3 draw against Melbourne City, when he saved two penalties.

"He's been great. He's been like Peter Pan -- he's flying all over the place," Glory coach Kenny Lowe said of Reddy.

"He's super. Good guy. He's a winner."

But Reddy said his teammates were still referring to him by his traditional nickname of "Rocket."

He is renowned for his on-field verbal rockets, but the nickname also stems from his father Rod Reddy - the former rugby league star nicknamed the "Rockhampton Rocket."

Nicknames aside, Reddy is enjoying his first season at Glory -- the seventh A-League club he's represented.

Reddy paid special tribute to Glory goalkeeper coach Danny Milosevic.

"He's been exceptional. He's brought my game to another level," Reddy said.

Glory's five-match unbeaten run has lifted them to within three points of fourth-placed Brisbane Roar.

Perth have a chance to close that gap when they take on last-placed Central Coast Mariners in Gosford on Saturday night.

Glory are still smarting from two poor displays against the Mariners this season.

In round one, Glory coughed up a three-goal lead at home on the way to a 3-3 draw.

And when the teams met in Gosford in November, Glory suffered a shock 2-0 loss.

"We owe Central Coast something," Reddy said.

"We can still catch fourth and rein in Brisbane. It's a big game for us.

"We'd love to have a home semifinal here and reward our fans. That's our goal.

"This week if we can get three points, it will go a long way towards doing that."

Glory are set to welcome back midfielder Chris Harold (shoulder), but Rostyn Griffiths (suspended) and Alex Grant (foot) remain unavailable.

Central Coast will be without suspended striker Roy O'Donovan.
