Injury-ravaged Newcastle Jets have signed veteran Iain Fyfe despite the defender not having played professionally in two years.
The 34-year-old centre-back is eligible to make his debut for the Jets against the Central Coast Marinerson Sunday after agreeing to a short-term deal on Friday.
Fyfe, who has been playing with Campbelltown City in South Australia's National Premier League, comes in as an injury replacement for Daniel Mullen.
Mullen is set for another eight weeks out after hurting his knee last month.
Fellow defender and captain Nigel Boogaard is also sidelined after suffering a nasty ankle injury in last Thursday's loss to Melbourne City.
Fyfe, who has been training with the Jets since Monday, has previously played in the A-League with Adelaide United and Sydney FC.
