John Didulica named new Professional Footballers Australia chief executive

Professional Footballers Australia has appointed former Melbourne City football boss John Didulica as the union's new chief executive.

Didulica previously served in the role between 2002 and 2007, but returns to as a permanent replacement for the departed Adam Vivian, who was pushed out amid internal conflicts earlier this year.

More recently, Didulica spearheaded Melbourne Heart's inaugural recruitment drive when they entered the A-League in 2008, but will depart the club now owned by the City Football Group to take up the position.

"It's a hugely exciting and important time for the sport. The current generation of players have an opportunity, through their collective talent and shared experiences, to drive the success of Australian football," said Didulica, who also played in the National Soccer League.

PFA president, Socceroos defender Alex Wilkinson, said Didulica was the unanimous choice of the executive committee, while chairman Craig Foster also backed him as a key appointment who can influence the sport's development in the coming years.
