Jade North eyes A-League title with Brisbane Roar to cap off brilliant career

Jade North has accomplished a lot in his nearly two decades in the game but an A-League title with Brisbane Roar this season would rank as one of his biggest career achievements.

The Roar are daring to dream of capping off what North described as a "fairy tale" rise from the depths of financial despair with a grand final appearance next weekend.

Around this time last year, the three-time A-League champions were on the brink of collapse.

Players and staff went months without being paid, owners the Bakrie Group were fighting off a multi-billion dollar debt in Indonesia, sponsors and supporters started abandoning them and when coach John Aloisi showed up for his first day of work, they had nowhere to train.

"The start that we had, everything that was happening at the club at the time ... we've held it together and this is the moment where we can really have a fairy tale ending," North said on Wednesday.

"All the boys have put in, with the coaching staff and everyone coming in, it's just been a great story.

"If we can get to the final and win it it'd be a massive, massive achievement - it'd go down as one of my greatest moments.

"There's still a long way to go but you can always dream."

Brisbane can reach a fourth A-League decider by beating the Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday at Pirtek Stadium in their semifinal clash.

The winner will go on to face either Adelaide United or Melbourne City in the grand final on May 1.

Despite poor away form this season, the Roar have a decent record at Wanderland and recorded a come-from-behind 3-2 win in their last visit in March.

On the back of another miraculous late comeback against Melbourne Victory in their elimination final win last week, North's defensive partner James Donachie says Brisbane go into this weekend with a mental edge.

"I think all the boys know in their heads ... it's good to go into extra time and know that you might be able to grab something," he said.

"The first few times you do it, not so much, but now it's happened quite a few times I don't think we count ourselves out until the 90 minutes or extra time -- we just keep going."
