Brisbane Roar go top of A-League after victory over Perth Glory

Brisbane Roar moved into first place on goal difference in the A-League on Saturday with a 2-1 home win over the Perth Glory.

After a scoreless first half, Jamie Maclaren put the Roar ahead in the 52nd minute and Henrique made it 2-0 nine minutes later. Hagi Gligor reduced the lead to one goal with 20 minutes remaining, but Brisbane held on for the win.

The Roar and Western Sydney, who played out a scoreless draw with Adelaide on Friday, are level on 27 points each, but Brisbane have a superior goals-scored total.

In a later match, a 2-2 draw between third-place Melbourne City and fourth-place Sydney FC left the teams level with 21 points each, six points behind the leaders.

Former Serbia international Milos Ninkovic scored both second-half goals for Sydney FC, including the equaliser with 12 minutes remaining, while Bruno Fornaroli and Aaron Hughes were on target for the home side.
