Melbourne Victory go top after Newcastle Jets deny Brisbane Roar

Melbourne Victory moved top of the A-League with a 2-1 victory over Adelaide United.

Victory established a two-goal lead inside the first half thanks to a Besart Berisha penalty and a free kick from Oliver Bozanic.

Marcelo Carrusca netted for the visitors from the penalty spot late on, but they could not find an equaliser.

The match -- which saw 10 bookings -- was notable for a walkout by fans in protest at Football Federation Australia's treatment of banned supporters.

Newcastle Jets came from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw at home to previous league leaders Brisbane Roar.

Jamie Maclaren opened the scoring at Hunter Stadium on 52 minutes, sending the ball into the far corner against the run of play.

However, Ben Kantarovski hit back with 19 minutes to play after Lachlan Jackson's header had been deflected.
