Melbourne City beat Wellington Phoenix 2-0 to set up an A-League semi-final showdown against city rivals Melbourne Victory.
Josh Kennedy gave City the lead on the hour mark in their elimination final encounter at Wellington's Westpac Stadium, before a 72nd-minute own goal by Phoenix goalkeeper Glen Moss doubled their advantage.
City will now meet the Victory next Friday for a place in the May 15 final, while Sydney FC and Adelaide United will contest the second semifinal on Saturday.
United ended Brisbane Roar's reign on Friday, beating the defending champions 2-1 to progress.
