Melbourne Victory go three points clear with win over Brisbane Roar

Melbourne Victory all but secured the A-League Premiers' plate with a 1-0 win at Brisbane Roar.

Mark Milligan netted the crucial goal from the spot in added time at the end of the first half after Carl Valeri had been fouled.

The win moved them three points clear of Sydney FC at the top of the A-League with just one match of the regular season remaining.

Only defeat for Victory against Central Coast Mariners, a win for Sydney against Wellington Phoenix and a seven-goal swing in the second-placed side's favour could deny Melbourne silverware.

Elsewhere, Western Sydney Wanderers moved off the foot of the table, one point ahead of Newcastle Jets, after coming from behind to claim a 2-1 win at home to 10-man Adelaide United, who remained in fifth place.

Sergio Cirio put the visitors in front on the stroke of half-time, but Nigel Boogaard's dismissal in the 62nd minute turned the match.

His foul gave Wanderers the penalty from which Tomi Juric equalised before Mark Bridge got the winner 10 minutes later.
