Perth won't be deducted points next season after accepting FFA sanctions

Perth Glory won't be deducted any points next season after accepting the punishment of Football Federation Australia (FFA) for breaches of the A-League's salary cap.

The Western Australian club will miss this season's A-League finals, despite being guaranteed of a top six finish. They will pay AU$269,000 in fines after allegedly exceeding the cap by AU$400,000 this season.

But despite being threatened with a third show-cause notice this week, their ability to avoid a points deduction next season is seen as a minor victory for Kenny Lowe' side. Perth Glory issued a statement on Thursday night accepting the FFA's decision and the sanctions for the 2014-2015 campaign.

Earlier, Perth Glory CEO Jason Brewer offered his immediate resignation.

"As CEO of the club, the ultimate responsibility rests with me and for this reason I must take full and total responsibility," he said in a statement.

"It is therefore, in the best interests of the club, I announce that from today I am resigning as CEO of Perth Glory.

"I unreservedly apologise to the staff, sponsors, members, fans and players of Perth Glory for the position in which the club finds itself in."

Perth Glory, who sit third on the A-League table on 44 points, cannot finish higher than seventh -- outside the top six -- as part of the FFA punishment. They host Melbourne City on Sunday in the penultimate round of the regular season.
