Liverpool confirm 2015-16 pre-season tour of Australia

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre says the club have more than 600,000 fans in Australia after confirming they will play two friendlies there in July.

Brendan Rodgers' side will face Brisbane Roar at the Suncorp Stadium on July 17, and Adelaide United at the Adelaide Oval three days later.

The fixtures will be played two years after Liverpool's last visit to Australia, when they beat Melbourne Victory 2-0 in front of 95,000 fans at the MCG.

Reds chief commercial officer Billy Hogan said last October that, according to research, the club had 580 million supporters around the world.
Ayre told Liverpool's website: "We visited Australia for the first time two years ago and the support we received from our Australian fans was incredible.

"Liverpool FC has over 600,000 supporters in Australia and we look forward to meeting as many of them as possible while we are in the country.

"Pre-season is an important time for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season and the matches against Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United are an exciting part of that preparation, giving our supporters a chance to see the team up close, no matter how far away from Anfield they live."
