Perth Glory opened up a four-point gap at the top of the A-League following a 2-0 victory over 10-man Newcastle Jets.

Richard Garcia gave the hosts an early lead after 11 minutes, with Nebojsa Marinkovic making the points safe late on.

The Jets had to play the final eight minutes without Kew Jaliens, who was shown a straight red card by referee Kris Griffiths-Jones.

Leaders Glory's nearest challengers are Melbourne Victory, while Newcastle remain one point above bottom side Western Sydney Wanderers.

Adelaide United missed the chance to move into second place after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Brisbane Roar thanks to Andrade Henrique's 18th-minute goal.
