Melbourne Victory moved up to second in the A-League table after snatching a 2-1 win over Perth Glory on Saturday night.

Archie Thompson scored the winner in the 90th minute to earn the three points for the visitors.

Foot-of-the-table Perth had taken the lead through a 28th-minute own goal from Mark Milligan, who then restored parity from the penalty spot five minutes before the interval.

The win was Victory's fourth from their past five league games, but Glory are now winless in nine and appear destined to finish at the bottom of the standings.

The Central Coast Mariners defeated the Newcastle Jets 3-1 in a highly-entertaining match.

A goal inside the first minute to Eddy Bosnar, followed by Berni Ibini's fourth domestic goal of the season, gave the reigning champions the perfect start inside six minutes.

Joel Griffiths cut the margin after 23 minutes but substitute midfielder Glen Trifiro's late strike secured the triumph for the Mariners.

Saturday's other match between Western Sydney Wanderers and Adelaide United finished goalless.
