According to the club, he wasn't required, having been given a few days of bonus annual leave.

"Danny wasn't here today. He's been given a couple of extra days off -- that's no problem,"...

Football Federation Australia delay A-League expansion shortlist announcement

Australia are remaining quite confident ahead of their opener versus France and are focusing on the mantra about playing as a collective.
Jamie Maclaren says the confident Socceroos are happy to be kicking off their World Cup against a team as strong as France.
France coach Didier Deschamps is already analysing Australia's potential formations and has called out a few of the Socceroos' most pivotal players.

Football Federation Australia has further delayed announcing its A-League expansion shortlist until at least next week as further information is sought from bids.

The governing body was due to release a shortlist earlier this week comprising the strongest half a dozen or so bids from the 15 formal expressions of interest submitted last month.

But that was pushed back after Deloitte, the consulting company examining the bids and advising FFA, sought additional information from a number of the groups.

FFA boss David Gallop '100 percent' staying amid Cricket Australia links

Australia are remaining quite confident ahead of their opener versus France and are focusing on the mantra about playing as a collective.
Jamie Maclaren says the confident Socceroos are happy to be kicking off their World Cup against a team as strong as France.
France coach Didier Deschamps is already analysing Australia's potential formations and has called out a few of the Socceroos' most pivotal players.

FFA chief Steven Lowy has ruled out the departure of chief executive David Gallop to the vacant role at Cricket Australia, saying he will oversee the renewal of the A-League next season and future expansion.

Gallop, a lifelong cricket fan and previous Sydney first-grade player with UNSW, has been linked with the position following James Sutherland's decision to step down.

But he has no plans to pitch for the job, hasn't had contact with CA, and in any case, Lowy isn't about to let him go.

"I'm 100...
