Muscat, Davies, Aloisi join Australia's Confederations Cup coaching staff

Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou has recruited three of the A-League's brightest young coaching prospects to join an expanded coaching staff for the Confederations Cup.

Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat will link up with the national team as an "observing coach" while his assistant Darren Davies and Brisbane Roar's Ross Aloisi will be part of Australia's scouting network at the tournament.

Davies and Aloisi will be charged with sending back information on other teams from matches in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi.

"All three have shown great qualities as young coaches throughout various roles in the A-League and the national team's set up and will add to our existing set up," Postecoglou said.

"They will be exposed to our structures and hopefully take back some knowledge to their clubs and roles within the A-League.

"The Confederations Cup is a massive global tournament and we think it's important that there are benefits all over the Australian football community.

"Scouting our opposition to ensure we are fully prepared for every match has long been a cornerstone of our performances and Ross and Darren will add considerable experience to that function of our technical preparations."

Aloisi, meanwhile, has signed a three-season contract extension with the Roar.

He follows in the footsteps of his brother John, who penned a fresh three-year deal last month to remain as Brisbane's head coach.
