Gabi said Atletico Madrid were annoyed to lose their first game of the season in Sunday's 1-0 La Liga defeat at Sevilla but stressed that the result would not lead Diego Simeone's side to change their approach.
Atletico went into the weekend leading the Primera Division standings and unbeaten in 11 games across all competitions in 2016-17, but the loss to Jorge Sampaoli's Sevilla saw them drop to fifth in the table.
Simeone lamented his team's missed chances after the game and club captain Gabi offered a similar assessment.
"In the first half the team had the chances to go ahead," Gabi told beIN Sports. "If you are not decisive in these evenly balanced games then in the end you pay for it. The team played the same way as always, but we are leaving annoyed with the defeat.
"You must congratulate Sevilla -- they won as they were better in front of goal. We just move on, stick to our path, and aim to win the next game."
A concern for Atletico is that an attacking partnership of Kevin Gameiro and Antoine Griezmann, which began the season in excellent form, has now gone three games without a goal.
"We are not worried about that," Gabi said. "They understand that the team is the most important. They are working hard for the team, and the goals will come."
A tight game at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan was decided when Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi raced clear onto Luciano Vietto's clever reverse pass and shot low past visiting goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
Atletico's veteran midfielder Tiago, who had replaced in-form winger Yannick Carrasco in a defensive move by Simeone with the game at 0-0, said he had been to blame for allowing N'Zonzi to get in behind the defence.
"At a throw-in, N'Zonzi got away from me and got in on goal," Tiago told reporters. "I feel a bit guilty for the goal, if I am two yards further back, then it does not happen. But well, we must lift our heads, work hard and aim to win the next game."
