Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone imagines a clash of styles with PSV

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone says he expects a clash of styles in Tuesday night's Champions League round-of-16 second leg at home to PSV Eindhoven.

The return at the Estadio Vicente Calderon kicks off neatly balanced after last month's goalless first leg in Eindhoven, when PSV avoided conceding despite playing the last quarter with just 10 men.

Simeone's team have had success both at home and abroad through recent years playing a tight, aggressive game, although the Argentine coach has introduced a more patient style this season.

The Colchoneros boss suggested at his pre-match news conference that he expected his team to have more of the ball on Tuesday night, with PSV looking to hit on the break or score from a set piece.

"PSV's best quality is their counter-attack, they do very well in open spaces, and players arrive well from deep areas," Simeone said.

"They are also very good at set-pieces. We are different as teams, two different systems. I imagine a good game."

Atletico have scored at least three goals in each of their last three outings [against Real Sociedad, Valencia and Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga], the first time they have managed such a feat in three consecutive games since 2012.

"The team is doing well, in the last games they have responded with very good consistency," Simeone said.

"Tomorrow we expect to continue along the same path."

Atletico top scorer Antoine Griezmann has netted in each of his last four games in all competitions, after the reported Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain target had previously scored just once in eight matches.

"We want Griezmann to keep bringing what the team needs," Simeone added.

"I'm sure that the team makes you a better player. If everyone plays at their level, the team gets stronger.

"We want Griezmann, like the other players, to respond to the game we have to play."

PSV will have their main striker Luuk De Jong available again, after the Netherlands international missed the first leg due to suspension.

"We know De Jong is an important player and a good reference for his team and that he works hard in PSV's play.

"We will try and take the game to a place which suits us and do our work as well as possible."
