Atlanta United's Ezequiel Barco expected back at training next week

MLS record signing Ezequiel Barco is expected to be back training with Atlanta United next week after a lengthy injury layoff, coach Gerardo Martino told reporters on Thursday.

The former IndependienteĀ attacker was expected to be out four-to-six weeks with a right quad strain suffered during training in February.

Barco sealed the largest transfer in league history last month when he moved from the Argentine giants to Atlanta for $15 million, plus a possible percentage of any future transfer depending on the date.

The second-year franchise is off to a strong start to the season without Barco, however, collecting nine points from their first four matches and sitting third in the Eastern Conference table.

Atlanta will travel to Los Angeles to face expansion side LAFC (on ESPN) on Saturday.
