Scott Sinclair says he was 'frustrated' while not playing at Man Ciity

New Aston Villa signing Scott Sinclair was forced to question his desire to play football during his time in the wilderness at Manchester City.

However, the winger, who admits he is "probably one of the most frustrated players in the country", is hungrier than ever as he aims to reinvigorate his career after joining Villa on loan this week.

The 25-year-old has made just 12 appearances for City since joining them back in 2012, with an unsuccessful loan stint at West Brom last season adding to his frustration.

Villa finally landed the winger until the end of the season this week with a view to signing him permanently in the summer with boss Paul Lambert seeking to add creativity to his misfiring squad.

"It was a very frustrating time at Man City and I want to kickstart my career again and get back on track," Sinclair said.

"I'm probably one of the most frustrated players in the country, to be honest. It's been very difficult for me being back at City and not getting the chance I wanted and deserved.

"That's football and you just have to carry on. I think it's testament to me as a football player, mentally, being there and not playing for so many months and getting no game time.

"It tests you in terms of your belief that you still want to play football.

"I still have that desire, belief and hunger to play football because a lot of people who don't know me will be writing me off and thinking I've earned my money and been sitting at City doing nothing.

"Everyone who knows me knows that isn't the case. I want to get out there, kickstart my career and prove to everyone why Man City bought me from Swansea."

Sinclair trained with his new team-mates on Saturday before Lambert makes a final decision on his inclusion.

Forward Gabriel Agbonlahor has recovered from a hamstring injury while Joe Cole (also hamstring) is training but not yet fit. Defenders Ron Vlaar (knee) and Philippe Senderos (calf) both remain out.
