Aston Villa teenager Jack Grealish warned to stay off Twitter

Paul Lambert has warned Aston Villa teenager Jack Grealish after the midfielder vented his frustrations on Twitter.

Grealish, 19, tweeted this week "can't wait to be happy playing football again'' after dropping out of the first-team picture at Villa Park.

He is believed to have been disciplined by Lambert and the Scot has advised Grealish, who has made 11 appearances this season, to avoid the social media site.

He said: "I think he should stay off tweeting. Not everyone needs to know that he's boiling an egg. I just wasn't happy about it.''

Grealish has been linked with a loan move and Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Peace has confirmed the Republic of Ireland under-21 international is on his radar.

Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett has dismissed a move for Grealish and Lambert insisted he has had no approaches.

"Not one club have asked me personally about him,'' he said.

Grealish would have been expected to start in Sunday's FA Cup visit of Bournemouth but has been ill this week.

"He's had a virus this week and only returned to training Friday so we'll see how he is,'' Lambert added.

Meanwhile, Lambert has underlined the importance of the Cup after his comments about the competition being a "distraction'' were misunderstood last season.

He said: "I got pilloried last year.Β The FA Cup is vital to this football club and we will go and try and win it.

"We have to have a cup run. If we can get a good cup run it is then in the memory for everyone. We would love to go to Wembley.Β We will go as strong as we can to win the game. I have rarely picked a weakened team.''
