Asante Kotoko will be back in league action on August 6, three weeks after the accident that killed the team's equipment officer and injured their two coaches. The Professional League Board of the Ghana Football Association say the Porcupine Warriors will honour their outstanding league game against Accra Hearts of Oak on August 6 before playing league leaders WAFA on August 23 in their second outstanding game. The PLB said they arrived at the August 6 return date based on a medical review that said Kotoko would be fit to play by then. The record Ghana champions have not been involved in league action since the bus carrying the team was involved in an accident on the journey back to Kumasi after a game in Accra. About 12 of the players involved in the accident have been back in training since last week with the youth team under the supervision of youth team coach Ernest Appau, but assistant coach Godwin Ablordey and coach Steve Pollack have not yet joined them. Pollack is recovering from surgery on his knee after the accident, but the Englishman is determined to return stronger. "Day by day, I'm getting better and better. I think about football and my work at Kotoko 24/7," he told the club's official mouthpiece Kotoko Express. "We're going to get back strongly. I've been thinking of the team but, of course, I also think of my health, the health of my players and everybody in the team. We're coming back strongly, no two ways about that." Pollack will have his work cut out when he returns, with the Porcupine Warriors now nine points behind leaders Aduana Stars with the two games in hand.
