Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman believes his injury troubles are behind him after recovering from his latest knee surgery. Strootman, 26, underwent surgery for the third time last September. He tore his cruciate ligament in March 2014 and two attempts to return have failed. His last appearance came on January 2015 in a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina. He had to leave the field injured after just over half an hour and has not played since. However, the Netherlands international has now returned to the Serie A side ready for preseason and has insisted he's in good health. "I can't wait to play matches again," Strootman told the club's official website. "I feel good and my knee is fine. "It's really important to start the season with the rest of the group and go through preseason as a squad, especially as I've not been able to do that for the last two years. "Last year I only played four games, but now I want to come back and give 100 percent.
"I want to help the team and if I'm at 100 percent I'll be able to do a good job. We need to be at 100 percent in five or six weeks' time for the Champions League playoffs." Roma's first scheduled preseason friendly is against Liverpool on Aug. 2.
