Francesco Totti has character and personality - Roma coach Spalletti

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti praised veteran striker Francesco Totti after he helped the Giallorossi narrow the gap to second-placed Napoli on Monday.

Totti, 39, came on for the final 10 minutes at the Stadio Olimpico and helped create the goal that beat Napoli.

The veteran's lobbed pass into the area led to Radja Nainggolan scoring as Roma moved to within two points of their guests to maintain their hopes of qualifying directly for the Champions League group stage.

And the result also saw Juventus crowned Serie A champions for the fifth time in succession.

"This is his quality," Spalletti told Sky Sport Italia. "He has technique, character and personality -- when he comes onto the field, it's his home, he's comfortable at the Olimpico. When he comes on here, he sparks enthusiasm."

The coach said Napoli had been had been dominating the second half until Totti's introduction.

"I'd give my team 10 out of 10 today for winning a game against a side who had us under pressure for all of the second half," he added. "I've got to give us 10 because we got the maximum out of this game."

Goal scorer Nainggolan, meanwhile, said the introduction of Totti had given the Roma players a lift.

"We all know what he's given and what he's still giving for us," he told Sky. "He gave us a spark which electrified the whole team.

"Now we've got to win all the games we've got left and hope they [Napoli] drop something along the way.

"I always said that if we want to finish above them we've got to beat them -- and we've done that."
