Walter Sabatini could leave Roma, coach Luciano Spalletti confirms

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini is considering leaving the club, coach Luciano Spalletti confirmed on Thursday.

It has been reported that Sabatini is set to tender his resignation to president James Pallotta over differences of opinion about the running of the club and Spalletti, when asked if he knew any more at a news conference, confirmed there was some truth behind it.

"Considering I've seen it written a few times now, I decide to ask him and he told me that [leaving] is a hypothesis," Spalletti said. "It's only right that we are all under observation, but if we manage to steer through this next group of games, he will stay and we will move on together.

"Either we get the results, or none of us are safe, including me, including everybody."

Sabatini has been criticised for some of his recent transfer operations, although according to La Repubblica, the figures say he has done good business. In the past four years, he has made a profit of €200 million from the trading of players.

If he does walk away before the end of the season, he will leave without having won a single trophy in his four years at the club.
